Los hispanos se ven afectados de manera desproporcionada por la enfermedad de Alzheimer en comparación con los blancos no hispanos.

Desafortunadamente, hay una escasez de neuropatólogos capacitados para su estudio. Esto conduce a un cuello de botella en el análisis de los datos, lo que extiende el período de investigación que podría conducir a una cura.

Las patologías o placas de proteína beta-amiloide se encuentran en el cerebro de las personas con alzhéimer. Encontrarlos y medirlos puede ayudarnos a comprender por qué existe esta disparidad.

Hay 3 tipos de patologías:

  • Placas con núcleo (Cored)
  • Angiopatías por amiloide cerebral (CAA)
  • Placas difusas

Hispanics are disproportionally affected by Alzheimer disease in comparison to non-Hispanic Whites.

Unfortunately, there is a shortage of neuropathologists who are able to study this.This leads to a neuropathology analysis data bottleneck, which extends the research period that might lead to a cure.

Beta-amyloid protein pathologies are found in the brains of people with Alzheimer disease. Finding and measuring them may help us understand why this disparity exists.

There are 3 kinds of pathologies:

  • Cored Plaques
  • Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathies (CAA's)
  • Diffused Plaques
So we need to analyze lots of brains from people with Alzheimer disease... which you can help us do! Together, we can speed up Alzheimer research and hopefully find a cure for the growing population affected by this disease.
